COURSE DESCRIPTION
Fashion and Garment Design is the art of creating beautiful and functional clothing and accessories. This course teaches you the skills needed to become a professional Fashion and Garment Designer.
You will learn to design clothes that are aesthetically pleasing and functional, considering who will wear them and when. You will have a wide range of materials, colors, patterns, and styles to choose from. This course will also teach you to anticipate changes in consumer tastes and predict upcoming trends.
CERTIFICATION
Upon completion of this course, you will receive a certification in Fashion and Garment Design.

Upon completing this course, you will be able to:
- Conceptualize garment combinations of line, proportion, color, and texture
- Draft the shapes and sizes of a garment’s pieces
- Make custom designed garments to the client’s measure
- Design fabric weaves and prints for clothes and furnishings
- Coordinate clothes, jewelry, and accessories used in fashion photography and catwalk presentations
- Select and buy the mix of clothing available in retail shops, department stores, and chain stores
- Make custom-made garments to order for a given customer
- Adjust the fit of completed garments and sometimes re-style them
- Recommend styles and colors that are flattering to the client
- Write fashion articles describing garments presented or fashion trends for magazines or newspapers
- Specialize in custom-made women’s clothes for day, cocktail, and evening dresses, business clothes and suits, trousseau, sports clothes, and lingerie
- Predict what colors, styles, and shapes will be popular before garments are on sale
- Draw and paint clothing designs for commercial use
- Sew ready-to-wear or mass-produce clothing by hand or with a sewing machine, either in a garment shop or as a sewing machine operator in a factory
This course is best suited for beginners to advanced level users and those who learn faster when demonstrated. The course content is designed by considering current fashion and garment design technology and the job market. You will receive practical assignments at the end of every session, providing a practical learning experience with live project work and examples.
